“One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.”
Our beginnings
Our story began in the early 1870s, when Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Mossville established a mission on Sampson Street to serve believers in Westlake. In 1876, that mission became known as Good Hope Baptist Church.
Rev. Henry Roy served as our first pastor. Deacon William Buchanan donated the land that helped establish a permanent home for worship and ministry. Lumber for our original church building was purchased from Perkins and Miller Lumber Company in 1880.
